Are we set to have another new PM?

What is going on behind-the-scenes during the current situation is uncertain- yet it seems Rishi Sunak, Chancellor, and PM Boris Johnsons’ relationship is beginning to deteriorate.

Many sources are beginning to see that Sunak, although young, is set to replace Johnson in Downing Street, due to his popularity among the public as he speaks calmly and collectively during times of crisis compared to Johnson’s confused clamour of instruction about the next steps.

From his early furlough scheme, which has lead him to gain popularity over the surprising generosity of it, to now, in which a Tory MP has said that ‘cracks are growing’ over the subject of the UK’s dependency on Beijing in which the PM and Sunak take different stances. However, this source is sketchy yet it is undeniable to see that Sunak’s clear instruction and lack of fluster makes him a favourable candidate to lead the Tory party.

For now, a leadership contest is unclear. However, when the current situation is getting a little less hectic and the attention shifts to how well Johnson handled the crisis, as well as other matters such as Brexit, it may mean that Sunak will take charge in his wake.
