Joe Biden’s VP pick

Since Amy Klobuchar dropped out of the running, the competition is very much up in the air. Let’s run through the likely candidates for Biden’s veep, and who I believe will win this position.

Tammy Duckworth is a mixed-race senator from Illinois and a veteran from the US army. She has similar political positions to Biden and a decent national profile. In my mind, she is the best candidate but the Biden campaign may elect for a different approach.

An unexpected contender is Arizona senator Kyrsten Sinema. Sinema is an openly gay senator running in one of the states Biden will be trying to swing in November. She opposes the Green New Deal, is fairly moderate and would be in a good position to take over from Biden if he is to die during his term.

Lastly, Kamala Harris: the most likely candidate for VP. She ran a campaign against Biden for the democrat nomination and was polling well until she was metaphorically clotheslined by Tulsi Gabbard during a debate. She is a young, mixed-race senator and would do wonders for the Biden campaign.
