Scotland has handled COVID-19 and quarantine quite well, taking other countries into consideration such as the United States and England. Despite the effort to keep their numbers low, Scotland has once risen in cases of the disease, and residents have found themselves back in a lockdown.
Nicola Sturgeon, Scotland’s First Minister, held a meeting in which she laid out new measures to help slow the virus, which are said to be stricter than England’s. Many people say that they are too strict, while others argue that they are not taking the pandemic seriously enough. Some of the restrictions include:
-Do not meet anyone within your home or another’s home unless they are extended family, which also applies to children.
-A maximum of six people from two different households can meet in a garden or private space.
-Pubs, restaurants and all hospitality settings have to close at 10PM.
-You must continue to work from home when possible.
Scotland, since the beginning of the outbreak, has had 25,009 cases of COVID-19. Earlier in the year Scotland had cases in double digits, but these obviously rose, and now (as of today) there are 383 cases of the virus. The government is trying to battle back the virus, but many people are not obeying restrictions, with many implying this is mostly teenagers and elderly people.
