Now that the US is no longer governed by the Trump administration, you may be tempted to put your feet up and disengage with US politics. I urge you to reconsider.
Whilst Donald Trump has left the White House, his many supporters haven’t left the US, and most likely never will. As a result of this, their beliefs will still be passed down to the next generation, and so the expulsion of a figurehead won’t reverse the effects of his presidency.
Trump has ignited a fire of distrust in the US, first for the media, and now it could be for the entire theory of participation in politics, due to his repeated claims of election fraud. As well as this, his exile from Twitter, Facebook, and other social media platforms is bound to fuel hatred for big tech. And none of these things will entirely disappear like we’re hoping Trump will.
The Trump Supporter Mindset is here to stay. The Democrats may have The House, a split Senate, and the Executive branch, but as we saw at the Capitol Riots, the fight to end prejudice, violence, and action from the far right is only beginning.
