Trump May Not Accept Defeat in November

In an interview with Fox News Sunday, President Trump implied that he may not accept the results of the presidential election in November.

When Chris Wallace asked Trump whether he would accept the results of the election, Trump refused to answer: “I have to see, look, I have to see. No, I’m not just going to say ‘Yes’ … and I didn’t last time”. As Wallace mentioned earlier in the interview, the concession of the losing candidate is pivotal to the peaceful transition of power.

Trump has been sewing doubt upon the election process for years, and has recently redoubled his assaults on mail-in voting.

Earlier in the interview, Trump said, “I think mail-in voting is going to rig the election, I really do”.

According to the Brookings Institute, there has been no increase in election fraud as mail-in voting continues to increase. If Trump refuses to accept an election loss in November, it would be an illegal seizure of power. This is extremely dangerous, considering Trump a lame-duck President, he would control the military and National Guard until January.

As election night in America draws closer, Trump does nothing to allay fears that he will refuse to leave office if he loses.
